step 1- record your story

Share a memory, reflection, or story connected to ancestors, family histories, or moments of care and labor that shaped your life. This is also a place for the things that are harder to say, stories that simply need to be heard. (up to 5 minutes)

step 2- how should your story be held in the archive?

Thank you for trusting this space with your story. Your recording is now part of the witness archive. Please complete the short below form so you can indicate how your story should be held in the archive.

You may remain anonymous, attach your name, or choose to have your recording archived but not publicly played.

If the form is not completed, recordings may be included in the public witness archive and played at the podium as voices begin to gather.

what is the witness archive

what is the witness archive

The witness archive is an evolving artwork that invites you to record a memory, reflection, or story connected to ancestors, family histories, or moments of care and labor that shaped your life. The archive originates at the witness podium, a listening place within the exhibition where stories first begin to be recorded, though you may encounter and contribute to it here.

Some stories are easy to tell. Others are more difficult. This archive also makes space for the things that are hard to say aloud, the memories or experiences that simply need someone to hear them. In sharing them, your story is witnessed.

Your recording becomes part of an expanding archive connected to this work. The witness archive may appear in future exhibitions as the archive continues to grow.
